Lyceum Kennedy's teachers consider field trips as an extension of the academic program and a real opportunity to experience a wide variety of activities and to discover the close environment and community. From the time our students enter LK, they have the opportunity to take full advantage of our community.   Each class experiences frequent field trips throughout the academinc year.  These field trips enhance the curriculum and are an important part of the learning process.  Some of the places the students visit are: museums, theater performances, art galleries, and local attractions such as the firehouse, nature walks and/or neighborhood businesses.

Students are offered the opportunity to go on multi-day field trips.  With these types of field trips, not only do the students have the chance to explore the world around them, but they also learn how to be independent.

  • Nature’s Classroom – In May our 2nd through 5th grade classes head to Connecticut or Long Island for a few days of environmental education.
  • Hunter Mountain – In March our middle and upper school students head to Hunter Mountain for four days of skiing and winter sports.
  • Maritime Aquarium Experience - 1st graders are provided an overnight Aquarium field trip.

These trips are optional and an extra fee is paid by parents in order for their child to participate.
